POI Moving, Mapping, Memory Exhibition

POI is the first installment of Edition at the Cornerhouse. Its a new month long event which aims to bring new ideas, exhibitions and one-off events. The exhibition was very innovative, with many of the pieces were interactive. There was a mix of video, sound, photography and textiles with each piece being completely different to another, this made it exciting to walk around. Even though every piece was different there was still an obvious link between them and the all worked well together. Even the information leaflet was made to link in with the navigation and mapping theme.
The pieces that stood out to me the most were Yukari Yoshikawa's instillation and Rob Strongitharm's videos. Yoshikawa's instillation is inspired by the Wheel situated in Exchange square. It was an arch made up of led lights which a video was projected onto it, the led lights colours changed to effect the mood of the person watching the video. Strongitharm's video was projected onto three large net curtains making the images bleed and overlay, making it able for visitors to walk between the curtains as though they were walking through the video.
